Dawn Patrol
What is Dawn Patrol?

Dawn Patrol is a name we use for what is one of the most enjoyable parts of our hobby interest in aviation.  Dawn Patrol is not part of the "Bill Smilie Aviation Center."  Our members who own airplanes and have the time available fly to various destinations in the Western US, (mostly in Central California) for breakfast on Saturday mornings.  The planes take off mostly from Sierra Sky Park, Chandler, Madera and Reedley airports.  Sometimes we encounter pilots from other EAA chapters at our destinations.  The destinations are airports that have restaurants or have a fly-in event.

This page on our website will usually tell of our plans for the next Saturday and contain pictures from past Dawn Patrol missions.

Dawn Patrol Mission

Greetings EAA Chapter 376 Pilots and Friends,

We have two destinations for Dawn Patrol this week, Saturday January 28! Columbia & Madera.

I know at least three planes are going to Columbia (O22) for breakfast (weather permitting) at Patty’s Shack which has re-opened for business. This is not the place where you walk down the trail. The address is 22267 Parrots Ferry Rd Sonora Ca. They will wait for you till about 9:30 at the transient area then head over to Patty’s Shack. Walk out the front gate of the airport then turn right.

The second destination is Madera Airport (KMAE). The Valley Ultralights Club will be cooking a donation only breakfast ready at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Coffee is ready about 8:00 a.m. They do a full breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes and more. Cars, motorcycles and unicycles are welcome!

Directions: Breakfast is at Madera Hangar II which is near the picnic shelter. This is on the North end of the hangars that are south of the terminal building, transient tie downs and the grass area. The drive through gate will be open.

Next Wednesday February 1st the Dawn Patrol planning lunch will be at the Yosemite Falls Café on Blackstone North of Shaw. Our reservation is under the name of EAA376 and Doug Betts. Everyone is welcome to come!
